【摘要】The goal of this study was to assess the viability of the Canadian energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) consulting industry to support the development of a business concept and a go-to-market strategy for EcoXergy’s consulting services business. A review of the literature points to information barriers, energy-market distortions, and capital constraints as the major barriers to the uptake of GHG abatement/energy efficiency measures in the trucking, commercial and institutional sectors.In order to strengthen EcoXergy’s competitive position, this study examined these barriers through detailed market, industry and SWOT analyses. Based on these analyses, strategic options were formulated to overcome identified challenges and capture the opportunities that provide the best path for long-term growth of the company’s consulting services business. Considering the anticipated growth potential, low barriers to entry, low threats of substitutes and a lack of entrenched competition, this industry holds great promise for EcoXergy to be successful in the current environment.
